A Matter of Release!

Updated: Jul 17, 2021

In this season of our lives, Self-Care cannot be compromised. I truly hope you are keeping well and safe.

I have been patient with myself for some time now. From the beginning of this month , expressing myself through writing just affirmations had to be enough. I am amazed at how much control I had to keep up with it. Today's Self-Affirmation is that Expressing myself is freeing: not attention seeking!

I have gone through it, the part of closing off, self- judging, comparing myself to others who are perceived as quiet, furthermore commended with an assumption that they are good people. I have also grown to observe and gather that, most of those people simply just have a better practice of preference on who/where they want to be "loud" with/at - for sure! For me, I am comfortable in this way and many other ways too. Really, it applies to me too, some environments really are numbing and not enabling of my personality/ character. They make me feel small and chained. I believe I have shared on this before, somehow. I just start having a sense that my opinion does not matter and therefore, I do not matter. Self-Truth!

Today however, I am expressing that you do not have to fear judgment to a point that you close off even from yourself. When you express yourself, do not feel like you are just an attention seeker. You are actually just freeing yourself. It is a Release!

Think of when you were a child, before the world convinced you that you Matter a little less. Back when your goals and aspirations were challenged each day with excitement. When possibilities floated just about everywhere without having to deal with impracticalities and reality. Sometimes, you just needed one person to say you are good at something even when you know you suck. As a "grown up", you find that you need to outgrow others approval. It is not easy to get to this point, but it is what needs to done. When you shy away from somethings and some people – basically, life’s challenges, you get closed off. At times, all this is due to fear that you will be deemed as an attention seeker. You end up not expressing yourself much.

I am finding that it is actually my own attention to self that needs seeking. This is in order to remain sane. I must point out, it is not about being selfish but about being self-aware. Of cause, it is your business to attend to, though many of us look for investors. Honestly, expressing myself should be about self-empowering and hopefully inspiring to others to do the same, for themselves. Once I start making it another’s person business to approve of me, chances are, I will choke. I feel like having focused on self-affirming this month, I am reducing self-judgment that maybe I'm just seeking outside attention. Yes, it gets lonely and anxious when you think no one notices you, but the real matter here is whether you notice yourself.

Hey there…

Do you feel at liberty to express yourself?

Are you deflecting from your aspirations by not paying attention to yourself ?

Why can't You enjoy your own company?

Why do you feel the need for their approval to be you?

The answers to those questions in most cases, have to do with not believing that You Matter. And so, it would be good if you start self-affirming that you do Matter. Firmly say it out loud to yourself ; "I Matter!" – Enjoy the release.
